Hermès HAC 40 Rock, Noir, Palladium Hardware, Limited Edition

The Hermès HAC 40 Rock is one of the most distinctive limited editions to come out of the maison in recent years. Built on the silhouette of the Haut à Courroies (HAC), Hermès' oldest bag design, originally created in 1892 to carry a rider's boots and saddle, the Rock version takes that heritage shape and gives it a sharper, more sculptural edge. Oversized eyelets sit boldly across the front in place of the standard saddle stitching, transforming the HAC into something closer to a runway statement than a travel bag.

This piece arrives in Noir Evergrain leather with palladium-plated hardware. Evergrain is one of Hermès' richest grained calfskins, deeply textured, soft to the hand, and with a quiet matte finish that absorbs light beautifully. In Noir, the leather reads as the most architectural version of itself, anchoring the eyelet hardware and the bag's tall, generous proportions. The cool brightness of palladium picks up against the dark leather and the metalwork detailing, sharpening the whole composition.

For all its runway character, this remains a fully functional HAC at 40cm. Structured top handles, the classic turnlock and sangles, and a roomy interior that makes the bag every bit as useful as its 19th-century origins suggest.
